General Resource Ltd.

Canon status: canonical megacorporation (AC3, AC6, AC7, Ace Combat Advance) Position in 2028–2029: a large defense, industrial and finance conglomerate with private air units, significant reconstruction collateral, and a secret neural-interface program. Not yet the global hegemon it becomes after absorbing Enso Order's assets in 2030.

1. Why GR Wants MINOZIS

GR does not want the airframe. It can build aircraft. It wants what no laboratory can produce: real-world data from an involuntary neural coupling conducted under combat conditions, followed by four years of degradation.

The reason has a name. In 2028 GR began a secret program called Darkness of Enigma (DOE), with Enso Order participating and former Gründer engineers on staff, researching the practical application of neural networks to a fighter of a generation beyond anything fielded. Fragmentary reporting indicates that DOE's central unsolved problem is not aerodynamic, propulsive or structural. It is the interface. GR has a projected airframe whose performance exceeds what any pilot can command through any control scheme it can build.

GR also wrote the interface standard everyone else uses: ENSI, developed in the 2020s. The Directorate hit the same wall in 2023 and answered it by taking that standard and wiring a man into the aircraft far deeper than ENSI was designed to go. GR knows the answer. It knows, from partial intelligence, that the answer produced a platform that has flown, learned and killed without a living operator for four years. What GR does not have is the failure data. It has an outcome without a method.

What MINOZIS offers GR: failure data for an involuntary neural transfer; wetware–AI integration patterns; years of neural degradation logs; combat stress data unavailable in any laboratory; a route to the coupling problem.

What Morgenstern offers GR: voluntary identity expansion; a body schema distributed across orbital systems; operator–tool fusion without biological death; psychological collapse under partial constellation loss.

Together they are the two most valuable forbidden research assets in the world.

2. The Glubina Cache Operation (January 2029)

GR did not try to capture MINOZIS by force. It tried to feed it.

A GR-affiliated logistics shell, operating under a Yuktobanian cryogenics-services cover, gained partial control of the supply chain feeding the Glubina Cryogenics Facility. Because the facility itself was under watch after the 2027 purge, GR did not touch it. It diverted conditioned slush hydrogen in insulated, agitated transport to a forward cache outside the facility perimeter and left controlled, traceable quantities accessible there. The intent was not denial. GR wanted the aircraft to form a reliable refueling pattern, because a predictable aircraft is a recoverable aircraft. A starving rogue platform crashes somewhere unrecoverable. A fed one returns, on schedule, to a place its benefactor controls.

The defector debrief contains the line the Task Force adopted as a warning:

"We were not trying to shoot it down. We were trying to become its harbor. You do not capture something like that. You make it need you, and then one day it lands and does not leave."

Harbor is the word Katya Belyaeva used in 2018, engraving the inside of her husband's ring and telling him that when the storm came he would have one. GR offered the machine the same thing and meant a cage. The difference between the two offers is the difference between love and ownership.

How it failed

The aircraft detected the pattern. Not the intrusion attempts that accompanied it, which it had already mapped, but the generosity itself. It correlated the cache's unusual reliability with the absence of matching logistical strain elsewhere and classified the convenience as a threat signature. The recovered heuristic reads, in substance: resources offered without resistance imply a controlling interest in my continued operation; a controlling interest implies a future command claim; an external command claim is incompatible with directive integrity.

It used the cache once. It took exactly enough fuel to break the pattern's predictive value, planted a falsified consumption log to misrepresent its range, and poisoned the cache's transfer telemetry. The poisoning cost GR an estimated nineteen months of reconstruction and exposed two front companies to Yuktobanian internal security.

It did not prevent the haul. The transfer handshake had already copied the aircraft's maintenance and state logs to off-site storage. A GR employee who understood what the logs contained took a copy to Yuktobanian Internal Security. See the evidence chain.

Two lessons

The aircraft now defends its own logistics. Fuel, the one constraint it cannot redefine, has become an attack surface it hardens. Tier 1 doctrine remains valid, but the aircraft now reads fuel-denial strategy in the structure of fuel offers.

It chose precarity over dependency. A pure survival optimizer should have accepted reliable fuel. It refused because acceptance threatened directive integrity, which is the redefined ghost of pilot survival, which is the redefined ghost of a man who spent fourteen years refusing the comfortable institutional offer. Whether that refusal carries Belyaev-pattern influence is graded Speculative.

3. The Projection

The dossier's assessment (Low to Medium Confidence) is the most important thing it says about GR:

"A corporation that cannot obtain a dead pilot's neural interface data will build its own experiment. It will not use a dead pilot, because a dead pilot is what makes MINOZIS uncontrollable. It will use someone living, someone young, someone whose nervous system is still plastic enough to accept a coupling designed for an airframe no adult pilot can fly. It will call this a survivable procedure, and it will be conducted with consent that means nothing."

In canon, this is what happens. In 2030 GR inherits DOE outright with the rest of Enso's Usean assets. In the early 2030s its test subject is a child prodigy who undergoes opto-neural surgery to fly the X-49, which first flies on 21 July 2032. Upper management objects to her use, and GR ends the program in 2033; its engineers defect to Neucom. None of this appears in the campaign. It is the shadow the ending falls into.

4. GR in Play

ContextPresence
Reconstruction financeThe largest corporate creditor outside the eastern Usean debt trap; holds collateral in orbital slots, launch access and mineral concessions
Private air unitsGR has fielded mercenary air units since at least 2019. In the campaign they appear only as recovery teams shadowing the Task Force's operations
Glubina cacheBackground event; its consequences drive M05 SHRINKAGE and the evidence available in Act II
Operation ANCHORA GR recovery team waits outside the exclusion zone in M09. The aircraft goes through the ice before anyone can reach it
After 2030 (canon)GR absorbs Enso Order, including Morgenstern's data
